About the role
Encircle Housing is a registered housing association that provides housing for people with a learning disability, mental health conditions, and sensory impairment across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are a community benefit society registered with the FCA that has a mix of properties that are owned or are short or long leased to secure much needed investment into specialised supported housing. Following a Regulatory Notice in April 2019 we have successfully implemented a self-improvement plan and have recently submitted a case to the Regulator of Social Housing for a review of the Notice. We now provide over 700 units of much-needed specialised housing with a pipeline of a further 300 units that includes a programme of further property purchases.

Experience/qualifications
Our Board is friendly, supportive, and focused, and we play a crucial role in ensuring that our housing meets the highest management and maintenance standards. We meet nine times a year and work closely with an experienced Senior Management Team, who in turn support a passionate and committed operational team of 30 employees. You would be expected to commit at least 2 days per month for non-executive duties which include meeting preparation, attendance, and 1:1 support/engagement with members of the senior management team. We also encourage occasional visits to our properties for Board members to meet tenants and their care support staff.
We are now seeking a further Non-Executive Director following a review of the Board skills matrix and succession planning with significant experience in new social housing business and property development.
This is a new Non-Executive Director role that is required to lead and inspire Encircle through the challenges we face from our external environment, and to ensure we deliver on our vision and strategic plan. Strategic thinking skills are essential along with the ability to analyse complex data and influence effectively at all levels.
Our Board needs to understand our tenants and care provider partners. We accordingly welcome applications from potential board members who understand regulatory challenges and see ways in which Encircle Housing can continue to strengthen its finances.
Following a period of consolidation, we are now identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities to provide secure accommodation for some of our most vulnerable sections of society.
We value equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business therefore we are keen to increase the diversity of our Board so that we can better understand and connect with our customers and continue to champion diversity.
Encircle Housing is an equal opportunity employer.
