Stephen, Carl and Mike share a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for growing their own food. What began as a small project has blossomed into a thriving garden full of life, colour, and community spirit. Working together with Active Pathways Limited

Each of these brand-new apartments are not only self-contained but also generously spacious, ensuring the utmost comfort for all tenants. The design is considerate of a wide array of needs, incorporating various features such as accessible spaces for those requiring additional mobility support, as well as direct access to outdoor spaces.

Therapy dog

A therapy dog has transformed the life of one of our tenants. He was experiencing loneliness and isolation, and it was agreed that having a small housing dog would change his life.

Regional Housing Manager, Lyndsay Russell explains, “The care provider approached us with the suggestion of introducing a therapy dog for one of our tenants. While pets are not common in our properties, we agreed to consider the request on a case-by-case basis, recognising that a companion animal could provide emotional support, a sense of responsibility, and encourage social interaction.”

Vicky’s story

Creating a homely home and a real sense of community was important to Vicky as she moved into her first place.  She lives in a beautiful old church that has been converted into 10 modern flats in Wakefield.

Everyone living in the flats is supported by 1st Enable within their daily lives. There is a hub where people can come together to chat and have a brew or do activities.

Ty’s story

Life has improved for Ty after moving into his own flat. Developing skills to become more independent has helped him at home and in his life.
