The new Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) gives greater transparency and accountability in social housing.
What is STAIRs?
STAIRs is a new UK Government standard designed to give tenants of private registered social housing providers, including Encircle Housing, clearer access to information about their landlord.
STAIRs also give tenants the right to access information about how their home and services are managed. If you make a request, there is a process for reviewing the information provided.
Two stages
The changes are happening in two stages:
From 1 October 2026, private registered providers of social housing are required to publish certain information. This includes information about how the organisation is run, what it spends, the homes it owns and manages, its performance and the services it provides.
From 1 April 2027, tenants will also be able to request information directly from their landlord. In most cases, providers will need to respond within 30 days. We will continue to update this page as more information becomes available.
STAIRs publication scheme
Much of the information we will need to publish under STAIRs is already available on Encircle Housing’s website. To make it easier to find, we have grouped the information under the STAIRs categories and included links to the relevant pages.
For our tenants, this means greater transparency and easier access to information. Rather than having to ask for information, it is available on our website for you to view when you need it.
We will continue to review and update the information on our website. We also want to make sure the information we provide is clear, accessible and useful.
