Meet our team – Oliver Edwards, Maintenance and Compliance Surveyor

“Joining Encircle Housing in January 2024 is something I’m really proud of. I wanted to work for an organisation that helps people and has a great team, and that is exactly what I have found.

Tenants and their care providers are starting to get to know me, which is really important for building strong relationships. I want to be that familiar face when I knock on the door, they know, “it is Oli from Encircle Housing.”

It is vital that tenants feel comfortable with someone coming into their home. It is not just about the job, it is about their wellbeing and sense of security. I always make sure to arrive with a warm, friendly smile, greet everyone, and carry out the repair or compliance work.

We are a team, each managing our own areas and taking time to make sure our tenants live in safe, good-quality homes. I cover the central region from North Sheffield down to Gloucester, coast to coast. What we do is about people and properties, and we work closely with other teams, especially the Housing Team, to make that happen.

Encircle Housing has also given me the opportunity to develop my skills further. I recently completed my Fire Risk Assessment training, which is a key part of my role. It has really helped me to expand my fire safety knowledge, and the team’s support during the process has been brilliant. I have already carried out a considerable number of assessments in our tenants’ homes, and I am grateful for the trust and encouragement I have been given.

Outside of work, my proudest achievement is becoming a dad to two lovely children. My family is amazing, we try to plan as many holidays as we can! We are about to move house as we need more space now that the kids are getting older. It is always fun and lively in our home!”
