Our approach to housing

When people think about housing, they often think simply about having a roof over their head. For many individuals, especially those who need additional support, housing means much more than that. A home should be a place where people feel safe, secure and able to live the life they choose.

Our approach to housing recognises that every person has their own wants, needs and aspirations. By combining the right home with the right support, we help our tenants build stability, independence and confidence in their everyday lives.

Helping to make a real difference

Our Specialised Supported Housing Services (Intensive Housing Management) are designed to provide personalised housing support that helps tenants maintain their tenancies while feeling supported in their homes. Taking time to listen and understand what matters most to each individual enables us to offer housing and meaningful tenancy related support that can make a real difference.

From the very beginning, housing assessments are an important part of the support we provide. These are not simply administrative processes or tick-box exercises. Instead, they focus on understanding the individual. Our Housing Team takes the time to learn about each tenant’s circumstances, needs and goals so that the right housing and support can be put in place. This person-centred approach helps ensure housing solutions are suitable, sustainable and supportive of long-term wellbeing.

Building relationships

Building strong and trusted landlord relationships with tenants is at the heart of our work. Through regular wellbeing calls and meetings, tenants have the opportunity to talk openly about what is going well, the challenges they may be facing and the support that could help them move forward. These conversations help ensure that support remains responsive to each person’s needs.

Working together

Partnership working also plays a vital role. By collaborating with partner organisations and professional services, the Housing Team can help connect tenants to the right support, whether that relates to housing or tenant wellbeing or other aspects of their lives.

Often, the work of the Housing Team goes far beyond traditional housing management. By being approachable, responsive and proactive, the team creates an environment where tenants feel respected, supported and empowered. They also advocate on behalf of tenants to help them achieve the best outcomes.

What our team says

Emma Peploe, our Head of Housing explains:

“Our Specialised Supported Housing Services make a real and lasting difference in the lives of our tenants every day. The work our Housing Team does goes far beyond traditional housing management – providing ongoing tenancy support, housing guidance and access to services that help people sustain their homes and live independently.

Through regular wellbeing meetings, the team listens, understands and builds trusted relationships with the people we support. The housing assessments they carry out focus on the individual rather than being a tick-box exercise, ensuring each person’s needs, circumstances and aspirations are fully considered.

By working closely with partner organisations, the team identifies the right housing solutions and support services for each tenant. I’m incredibly proud of their compassion, dedication and commitment to going above and beyond to help our tenants feel safe, supported and able to thrive in their homes and communities.”

More than housing

Our Specialised Supported Housing Services are about more than housing, they are about people. By placing tenants at the centre of everything we do, we support individuals to build stability, confidence and independence, helping them not only maintain their homes but also feel part of a community where they can truly thrive.

Throughout April we are spotlighting how our team has been helping our tenants and we look forward to sharing these with you.
