Outdoor makeover designed by our tenants

This summer, something truly special has blossomed in Greater Manchester. After winning our outdoor makeover competition, our tenants’ ideas and aspirations have been transformed into a vibrant garden retreat. What was once a plain, uninspiring space is now a colourful, calming haven full of life and warmth.

Preparation was soon underway as plans started to take shape. Nyal from Great Grass visited the property to measure up the area, and together with our tenants and staff, they carefully selected the perfect artificial grass to suit the space.

With the support of our fantastic tenants and the dedicated Jade and her team from Northern Healthcare, we got to work sleeves rolled up and spirits high.

The once dull, grey outdoor area is now a bright, welcoming place where tenants can relax, socialise, and enjoy the fresh air. The transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.

A garden built with heart

The makeover began with colour. Our tenants chose a cheerful cornflower blue for the fencing, marking the official start of the transformation. Together, we cleared the area and got to work painting. One tenant suggested a rich charcoal shade for the trellis, adding a striking contrast and a touch of elegance.

During the makeover

Preparation continued as the decking was oiled, readying the space for the next big step. The artificial grass chosen by the tenants was expertly installed by Great Grass. Not only does it look lush and green all year round, but it is also low-maintenance and soft underfoot, making it a perfect choice for this shared outdoor space.

Chris, our surveyor, had previously installed the decking, and now features thoughtfully placed planters both on the decking and along the fencing. This careful placement allows tenants to enjoy vibrant flowers and hardy evergreen plants whether they are outside or relaxing indoors in the lounge. The result is a garden that offers beauty in every season.

A special thank you to EEM and Tidy Gardens for your generous donations. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who helped bring this garden to life. Your hard work has made a real and lasting difference for years to come.

The results are amazing!

More to come

The garden is not quite finished just yet. In the coming weeks, we will be installing a fence and gate to offer even more privacy, creating a secure space where tenants can truly unwind. Outdoor lighting is also on the way, perfect for warm evenings and adding a magical finishing touch.

A celebration to remember

To mark the garden’s completion so far, we gathered for a celebration. It was a joyful day filled with laughter, conversation, and a delicious buffet. It was a chance to reflect, appreciate everyone’s involvement, and enjoy the beautiful space together.

This garden is more than just an outdoor area, it is a space created with and for our tenants. It represents community, creativity, and care. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and we are excited for what is still to come.
